Research and Innovation: UNIVPM-INGENIA Collaborative Doctoral Projects

INGENIA is investing in the future of sustainable energy through strategic partnerships with academia. The company is currently supporting two major research projects in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of the Marche (UNIVPM), focused on integrating advanced technologies into biomass plants.

Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering (Academic Year 2024/25)

Ingenia is providing 100% funding for a scholarship for the project: “Numerical Modeling and Optimization of a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Fuel Cell Powered by Biomethane for Cogeneration to Supply Electricity and Process Heat to a Biomethane Production Plant Using Biomass.”
– Researcher: Benedicta Croce

Innovative Doctoral Students Project 2025 (Marche Region)

Ingenia is partnering with UNIVPM on the project: “Numerical modeling of a biogas-powered solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) to supply electricity and process heat to a biomass biogas plant.”
– Researcher: Abdi Syed Muhammad Kumail

INGENIA's research on the international stage:

Our doctoral students Benedicta Croce and Kumail Abdi represented UNIVPM and INGENIA at the 39th edition of ECOS (International Conference on Efficiency, Cost, Optimization, Simulation, and Environmental Impact of Energy Systems), held from June 28 to July 3, 2026, in Constanța, Romania.
ECOS is one of the most prestigious international scientific conferences dedicated to energy systems, applied thermodynamics, thermal sciences, and technologies for the transition to sustainable energy.
During their presentations, Benedicta and Kumail presented the results of their research on the application of fuel cells—specifically PEMFC and SOFC types—as cogeneration systems powered by biogas and/or biomethane. The Q&A sessions following the presentations also provided an important opportunity to delve deeper into INGENIA technology, highlighting its competitive advantages in this specific application area.
